Version 5
2nd relay NGS WFS field expanded to accomodate 40'x60' rectangular patrol field, centered on-axis. This required: 2nd relay OAPs increased in size by 30%, switchyard mirror moved back toward OAP4, incident angle of switchyard mirror increased to 20 degrees.

Alternative suggested layout for easier feeds to the LGS WFS and the Keck Interferometer

Version 7
4 August, 2009 Same as version 5, but with the following adjustments:
  1. Moved first fold mirror closer to 200mm closer to K-mirror
  2. moved LGS dichroic 150mm closer to woofer DM (but didn't change angle - do I need to?)
  3. increased angle of interferometer dichroic to 25 degrees
  4. removed interferometer FSM pair
  5. moved acq camera pick-off 100mm closer to LOWFS focus
  6. decreased angle of acq camera pick-off to 45 degrees
  7. removed NGS WFS FSM pair
  8. moved NGS dichroic 100mm closer to science focus

Version 9
12 Jan 2009

Version 9 was produced as a result of some mechanical interference issues, to change the pupil image size on the MEMs tweeter mirror (to 24mm diameter), and fix some telecentricity errors in version 7. Version 9 also has an interferometer feed that is not too different from the existing DSM bench.

The largest change is opening the off-axis angles of the first relay OAPs from 20 to 25 degrees. The first fold mirror angle was adjusted until the LOWFS feed was roughly perpendicular to the telescope optical axis. The LGS WFS dichroic angle was adjusted slightly. The tweeter mirror incidence angle was lowered to 9 degrees in order to have a little more space between the science instrument and the LOWFS assembly. The NGS WFS FSMs were returned.

Version 10
18 March 2010

Version 10 Incorporates the following changes:

  • Feeding two instrument ports with the switchyard mirror after OAP4.
  • Folded LGS WFS feed to put the LGS WFS on the left side of the Nasmyth (if looking into the bulkhead), while the instruments are on the right.
  • Incorporated the NGS WFS feed into the collimated space before OAP4 (instead of after OAP4), and refocus light with a triplet lens design by Viswa.
  • Opened tweeter mirror from 9 degrees it was in version 9 to the 10 degrees it was pre-version 9.
