- 360 Confirmed Ia's since June; that's 4 a night!
- Operations have been running smoothly
- We got SEDm time to get Ia's at peak (a couple per week): anything with an early spectrum will get targeted.
- Targeting to be done manually. Tidy up the slack's
- We werw also awarded time to look for lensing candidates.
Meeting Times:
- Mickael will send a doodle poll to rearrange the times.
- There are no objections to moving the meetings by an hour, maybe more. They could also move days.
- The overall consensus is that it would be good to have Adam on the calls :).
ZTF21abiuvdk:
- This has daily cadence in g,r,i for the past two months + lots of spectra.
- It's in a calibrator galaxy
- Let's do a H0 proof-of-concept and prediction paper :). Other analyses are available: volunteer!
- Suhail can help out: he has looked into uncertainties on H0 if we use the Y1 sample. Mickael (with Mat?) to pull together an outline.
Briday et al:
- This was on the arXiv yesterday (https://arxiv.org/abs/2109.02456
)
- Read it!: it studies how the mass step varies as a function of stellar population tracer (mass, sfr, morphology):
- tracers closely related to population age recover a large mass step
- but critically, the low values of the mass step recovered from other tracers (morphology) can be entirely explained by 'tracer accuracy': how well a parameter measures population age
- => population age can explain all measured values of the mass step
- can we measure this for ZTF?
ZTF DR2:
- Mat and Mickael have been working on pulling ZTFDR2 together:
- we have 3000 SNeIa's, probably 1500 of them are cosmology grade, and 1000 of which have a spec_z
- We could possibly look into proposing for the missing objects, but DESI has likely already got them.
- Mat's working on firming up the selection: more very soon.
RCF:
- The RCF phone-con's are every Tuesday at 7.30pm (Europe)
- Lots of discussions going on about classifications and light-curves
- All spectra are being reclassified by 'a group of experts' using galaxy zoo. This is of use to the Ia group
- The team also have FP light-curves (IPAC) for everything, and plan to make all of the data available in a data release.
- What do we think of this? The light-curves are not scene-modelling, but they are useful for population studies, rates and host analyses
- A group of us need to attend these meetings regularly
Papers in progress:
- Suhail: The Y1 paper is accepted: the last step is maknig the data public, talks with the journal are ongoing!
- Maxime: She's working on final corrections: the referee wanted a little bit more certainty in how the detection efficiencies are calculated.
- Hopefully back with an updated version in a month or less :).
Closing Remarks:
- Back next week: volunteer for a talk, especially if you do calibration!
- France, also just gained approval for a large grant, so if you are interested in a post-doc, contact Nicolas / Mickael :).
