Participants (9):

  • Mat S, Suhail D, Georgios D, Melissa A, Bastien C, Ariel G, Jacco T, Kate M, Ana S-C
  • Apologies: Mickael R, Joel J
Notes:
Transients of the Week:
  • No Joel this week :(.
SuperCH SNe:
  • 03fg-like. 2009dc and 2012dn are prominent examples
  • These are overluminous, very blue SNeIa with no-secondary max.
  • Weak intermediate-mass-elements (Carbon until peak)
  • Working on ZTF21acdmwae. z=0.026
    • We have proprietary Caltech data which has a very early (-20) detection
    • Extinction isn't zero; the correction is being applied to get us to abs_mag, and is determined through the spectra
    • At early times it has a bump: starts blue, goes red. The colour is very different to 11fe.
    • The SN is also very blue in the UV: much brighter than 11fe. Basically no line-blanketing.
    • The spectrum exhibits plenty of Carbon: unburned material from the original WD?
      • Are there two components for Carbon? The fit is good, but is it real or over-fitting?
    • Looking at the early light-curve - there's an excess at -22 days?
    • Bolometric fitting gives 1.2-1.4Msolar (43.2ergs^-1)
    • Looking to compare to models that include interaction (https://hesma.h-its.org/doku.php?id=start)
      • These are all fixed to 1Msolar of Nickel, which is a lot.
      • Uli has left the field though....
    • There is NIR photometry that needs to be reduced. It's still being taken.
    • The aim is for a paper based upon the photometry in the next few months.
DR2 Updates:
  • Mat has discovered that most of the flags recommended by IPAC are in the FPbot image files, but not in the output csv.
    • Is debating how to extract this information
    • Light-curve fits to all objects (including a baseline correction is implemented). Will be in the dropbox once pathological cases are sorted out
  • Jacco has been looking at light-curve comparisions to BTS (Adam M). Prelimiary results show a scatter of 0.02 mag after a baseline correction
    • Adam M also introduced Mat to the 'cloudy' flag: this is the primary cut being used by BTS: it's implementable if we can get the information out of the images...
Closing remarks:
  • Fill in the spreadsheet to volunteer....
