IntroductionTMAS ("Thomas") is a simple visible-light imager system to enable high-angular-resolution science with PALM-3000. It consists of a pair of high-speed 2k x 2k Andor NEO sCMOS cameras (borrowed, for now), with an option of alternatively using a borrowed Andor 888 L3CCD which would provide higher QE but slower frame rate and smaller FoV in one of the arms. Future options include a fiber output port to support precision RV spectroscopy tests, or the addition of a tunable filter for ultra-narrow-band imaging. TMAS integrates an atmospheric dispersion corrector (ADC) and dual filter wheels.Project StatusTMAS is in development phase and is expected to be ready for on-sky testing in June 2012. |
