Deformable mirror: A new one with new electronics costs $17K. There are two concerning issues: 1) packaging makes it difficult to fit the OAP relay near the DM and 2) the reflectivity of the DM is very low at UV wavelengths as seen in the figure. We need to find out if BMM can put on a different coating (and if we can get different packaging.)

Viswa remembers sending BMM a custom Sapphire window (Opto-Sigma) that BMM was able to use with the DM packaging.

Called BMM on July 2nd. (Move to section on Deformable mirrors)

They quote the reflection of the AL coating at 84-86% at 355 nm.
Not sure whether the DM is evacuated or backfilled with an inert glass.
We can provide them with a custom window for the DM. Probably sapphire with a broadband coating. Window ~$250 and coating I'm guessing at least $1000.
If we buy a system from them, they can ship the electronics now and DM in 10-12 weeks.
They can provide us instructions on how to get the old mirror to work with the new electronics.
They can remove the new bulky packaging from their new DMs. This should be stripped down to the zif socket but we'll have to reconfirm.
Retail price on these systems is $17K.
