* ZTF & Pipeline Status:
Instrument back on telescope, filter exchanger is now on, but not in use yet, things are getting better, contamination seems to be gone at the moment. Currently building up reference images , alerts/image differencing expected to start from Wednesday (Feb 6). Not clear if this set of referencing images will be “final”. Next week ZTF will conduct a mini survey near the Gal Plane where each field will be observed 4x in a period of 2h.
* Organizational: MSIP data access
MSK: can we use MSIP data to identify comet outbursts?
MG: as long as it comes from the moving object pipeline. Follow up TBD: What fraction of comets is identified by the pipeline?
ATEL vs. CBET, ZTF newsletter
DB: CBET is edited thus slow, behind paywall. Move to ATEL? con: small body community used to CBET. Transition period where we use both?
Lynne: an alternative is through alerts, generated by solar system marshal
QY: there is no solar system marshal yet
DB: perhaps should distribute event info through the SSWG email list.
Rex: We should define what info these emails should contain so they are useful. Maybe create a webpage to host all these info, or may be flooded by emails.
* Projects, including:
- Comets (Dennis, Mike)
MSK: additional metadata included on comet cut out images
DB: working on automatically creating astrometry and lightcurves from the comets found by MSK
- NEOs (QZ)
QY: ZTF’s first NEO discovery, ZTF0027 == 2018 CL, ML training updates
- Asteroids (Wing, Rex)
Rex: working on the ML training of asteroid lightcurve.
* Follow up observations
Wing: for comet outburst program when will SEDM observations be triggered?
DB: need to inspect the lightcurve to understand false positives.
DB: waiting for results SEDm test observations of comet C/2017 A1
TP: 200” due in 2018B.
- who is going to March meeting:
Rex, Wing, Chow-Choong, maybe +1 from Taiwan
MSK, Dennis from UMd
Mario, Bryce, maybe +1 to 2 person from UW
MG: every working group will be expected to present their work 20-30 min.
Wing: a community document about publication policy
QY: who wants to do what project. DB will set up shared document so we can all start describing the work we would like to do.
Bryce: what should go into the alerting stream?
Dennis: SEDM whitepaper has a good list of trigger definitions (just shared this)
Tom: asteroids go through MPC and IPAC
Next telecon is in 2 weeks (Feb 19)
