ZTF Ia Phone-con: 2021-Oct-20
Meeting Agenda:
1. SNe of the week [Joel J]
2. ZTF-DR2 [Mat S]
4. AOB / Close
-
Participants (12):
- Mat S, Joel J, Jakob N, Ariel G, Alice T, Melissa A, Remy J, Young-Lo K, Estelle R, Kate M, Suhail D, Georgios D
Notes:
Transients of the Week:
- ZTF20abmarcv: two SNeIa at the same location. The key is what shape is it going to be.
- As an fyi, we now have 145 siblings (not all ZTF-ZTF)
- The aim is to NOT this next week
- ZTF21acdmwae: the recent SuperCH.
- Data is being collected by Caltech. Lots of early time, NIR and SWIFT data has been collected.
- ZTF21acenkuf: Very dusty (~1 mag), in the middle of a host. Has maybe high Rv (the fit to existing photometry is Rv=4).
- Has U-band; NIR data on this would help a lot.
- Spectroscopy is needed to determine the subtype: LT/Sprat?
- ZTF21achxlkq: caught early (~-15 days). Shows strong Ca absorption.
- ZTF19aamggua: old, but is this a Ia or Ic or fast decliner?
Papers + Admin:
- Suhail's paper has been accepted as has Rahul's.
- Alice Townsend is new: she's working with Jakob in Berlin.
- Remy Joseph is joining the group in Stockholm: looking for lensed SN.
- Also coming soon: 'volunteers'! To avoid Joel, Mat and Mickael randomly emailing people, let's transition to a google sheet.
- We'll circulate this week: please sign up to talk about what you're up to.
- The aim is to keep things informal: bring a plot.
- Sign up! (before we ask you to!)
ZTF-DR2:
- The FP light-curves are now available in the GitHub. They are reformatted to be nice :).
- Fits are being donw in SALT2 (Mat) and SNooPy (Joel) to help differentiate between sub-types
- This of course means that we can look at the odd-balls / photometric comparison:
- ZTF19aamggua. Is this a Ia or Ib or a weirdo (02cx?)?
- ZTF20aazpnxl: No secondary-max?
- ZTF20aaupoiv: Late time g-band excess (CSM?)
- ZTF20abjbiqf: Early excess + limited secondary max
- How should we do this?
- Let's store the information somewhere. Fritz or on the webapp? Fritz is impossible to search.
- Let's all share the weird'ness: highlight them to someone.
- The FP light-curves are also 'curious' at times: some shifts, bumps and drop-outs.
- Jakob: There are some flags at IPAC that we don't have. The IPAC light-curves take care of this.
- Mat, can we find this information somewhere?
- What's going on, and why?
- Are their different templates for different areas of the sky?
- There are also some late-time excesses that cannot be explained.
- And there are a bunch where the i-band is simply off.
- Which papers are we going to write?
- How are we not going to step on each other's toes.
- Let's make sure that we pay attention to the weirdo's and don't release all of our data at once.
- Kate: which photometry shall we use? FPbot or IPAC or Adam?:
- Jakob: we need a 'ground-truth'.
- Mat: let's plot the various FP measurements together and look for subtle trends.
- Ariel: there are cases where the SN is at different positions in different filters: this is going to cause problems.
- Jakob: what should we publish: should it just be an analysis schema?
- Kate: let's all collate this information in one place:
- Suhail: would all of the pipelines being installed in one place be useful:
- Joel: yes, but they all suffer from the same problems.
- Summary: let's go through photometry together next week.
Closing remarks:
- Next week: photometry discussions, general updates and maybe some science :).
