Notes:
Transients of the Week:
- None: it's been mostly bad weather.
DESI-Update:
- DESI are happy to share redshifts with ZTF. An archival list of hosts has been collated: they'll cross check their catalogues to see what redshifts are available.
- They will also, hopefully, integrate their redshifts into ZTF alerts.
- They are obtaining a 150k spectra a night.
- Most of the sharing will be informal to avoid paperwork overload: we've sent them a list; let's see what happens.
ZTF-DR2:
- The key question for the data release is typing.
- Mickael has written a web-app for visualising and classifying the spectra.
- There is a database underneath: all of the results will be stored: no need for notes!
- The tool currently has light-curves and the spectra: host info, light-curve fits and redshifts / spectral features will be implemented shortly.
- The aim is to sub-type all of the spectra, so we only do it once
- Ariel: this overlaps with the GalaxyZoo project; the aims are subtly different, but there's a lot of overlap.
- Let's talk, clarify the overlap and work together :).
- Who wants to play with it? Kate, Joel and Giorgos have signed up: Jakob and Suhail are other viable candidates
- Jakob: we've already subtyped several of the spectra: let's test with those.
- Mickael: the worry is always biases; keen to ensure that we don't subtly introduce them.
- Ariel: how do we test our efficiency? Mickael: more information will be provided!
- Jakob: maybe we can use SNIascore? The problem is that it's trained on DR2 spectra....
- Kate: What are we going to do with the 'unclear' ones? Mat: probably look at them again
Closing remarks:
- Suhail's paper was accepted: woop!
- Back next week
