Palomar LGS Engineering Summary 02/10/06 UT Personnel: J. Roberts, V. Velur, R. Flicker, L. Wang, A. Morrissett, J. Hickey, J. Henning, A. Bouchez, J. Mueller. Conditions: Photometric, V seeing ~1.0". 1100-1300 Installed MGSU electronics. 1300-1745 Testing MGSU cameras, synchronization. 1745 Opening for first MGSU target; AO rebooting with TCS and MGSU specific build. 1830 Begin safety camera experiment. Running ASCAM, IRCAM, and RADAR for serendipitous detections and determination of overflight statistics. 1847 Synchronization works between all cameras. 2010 Viswa providing manual assist in Cass cage. 2130 Safety camera experiment complete - ~7 aircraft imaged with IRCAM, 2 detected with RADAR. 2250 Rotated cass ring to 205.32deg, allowing gravity to aid motion of motors in the X direction). MGSU data collection successful - See attached preliminary log sheets. 2345 Handover to LGS engineering. 0000 Attempting to fix noisy acquisition camera video feed. 0015 Lost 30min to spontaneous ao reset. 3 Reboots necessary to recover. 0045 Testing LOWFS with new build - closed TT loop on bright star. 0115 LOWFS acquisition GUI checkout and calibration. 0215 Measuring LOWFS mount flexure (pupil stability). Very stable in E, apparent problems in W). 0300 Beginning dual-NGS test (binary star, TT on LOWFS, HO on HOWFS). 0315 Lost 30min to AO database errors. 0430 Dual NGS lock successful. 0500 Measuring SSM field of regard - Found to be much smaller than expected (~65" diameter, centered 25" from optical axis.) 0535 Calling night. A good night of AO engineering.
