This is the shared file system for the detector team at Caltech Optical Observatories.

Login instructions

Enter your username and password in the log in bar at left. The navigation bar will then be expanded to show the directory structure. Members may read and add files to the workspace, and may delete files they have created. To become a member, email the site administrator. Members can be granted access to some or all of the site. You will only be able to see the part of the directory tree which you are authorized to access.

What we do?

Under the directorship of the Dr. Shri Kulkarni, and Associate Director for Development, Dr. Richard Dekany, Caltech Optical Observatories develops astronomical instrumentation, including detector systems, to serve the scientific interests of Caltech's astronomers. Caltech is a partner in the Palomar Observatory, Keck Observatory, Thirty Meter Telescope and the SuperNova/Acceleration Probe satellite project. Thus our detector interests cover UV, Optical and Near IR wavelengths, scientific detectors and large format mosaics, both CCDs and CMOS hybrids, in very low light applications. We are also actively pursuing high speed wavefront sensor technologies, both NIR and optical, for Adaptive Optics. To get the most out of the detectors we optimize detector control electronics, and are particularly interested in characterizing the emerging ASICs which will replace discrete controllers.
