Palomar Laser Guide Star (LGS) Monitor and Control System User's Guide Version 1.0 1. General Start up and Stop processes The general start up of the LSG Monitor and Control systed is to use the start and stop scripts located in /home/lgsusr on the LGS computer. To execute the scripts, run the following commands: To Start the LGS system: /home/lgsusr: StartLGS.sh [-debug] [-gui] The -debug flag will send debug messages to the terminal screen for monitoring. The -gui flag starts the LGS Monitor and Control Graphical User Interface (GUI). To Stop the LGS system: /home/lgsusr: StopLGS.sh 1.1 Command Summary The following is a summary of the LGS Monitor and Control command set. The detailed description and syntax for each command are provided in subsequent sections. Temperatures: ------------ From the command line on the gui, it is possible to request any data related to the McShane Temperature Control Box. The most recent data is displayed in the GUI but can also be requested on the command line. Syntax: reqtemp Where: = 1 - 6 Syntax: settemp Where: = 1 - 6 = desired temperature (C) Syntax: disable_unit Where: = 1 - 6 Photo Diodes: ------------ From the command line on the gui, it is possible to request any data related to the photo diods controlled by the "brick" built by Chris Shelton. The most recent data is displayed in the GUI but can also be requested on the command line. Syntax: reqdiode Where: = Record Data: ----------- From the command line on the gui, it is possible to request the LGS Monitor and Control System to record data to a Palomar AO data recorder. Syntax: set_record The recording rate can also be set from 1 to 20 Hz. Currently it defaults to 1Hz upon start-up. 20 Hz is pushing the capability of the serial devices.
