From: "Mitchell Troy" Date: August 15, 2006 10:11:00 AM PDT To: Subject: [LGS] Impromptu Palomar AO meeting 8/15/06 - minutes We had an impromptu AO meeting at Caltech today. Attending: Hal Petrie, John Cromer, Chris Shelton, Mitchell Troy Here are the minutes. 1. Hal is working on the baffling for the 1/4 wave plate. He now has all the information needed for the design. 2. LLT FSM limits. Chris suggested limiting the range to prevent the laser from hitting the stops on any optics. We agreed this is a good idea. Chris will work on the electronics or ask some one at Palomar to make the needed changes. This will require some "minor" changes to the software to change the LLT FSM gains and limits. 3. Work on Prime Focus diagnostics will continue, but will not be implemented for September run. The run is 3 wks away and Anna will return just 1 wk before the run starts. 4. Hal will look at remounting the lens under the LLT to the mirror cell for the September run. 5. LLT covers. The LLT cover design will be delayed until after the new diagnostics bench is designed. Bob is working on a cover for the LLT primary. 6. AO DM work. The new EPROMS are ready for installation, but will require removal (by unsoldering) on one part which will be replaced by a XXX. Chris will bring the board back to Palomar on Wednesday, unsolder the part, install the XXX and re-install the same part. The board will need to be brought back to Palomar before the AO system can be used. 7. A general priority for AO system work at Palomar is probably: -characterize reflecting spot (and re-install it) - get DM working with new EMPROMS - Look at LGS stimulus - Look for vingeting in NGS -measure photometry 8. Safety system a. We will use visible all sky camera in September. b. IR camera still needs debugging will likely not happen before September. c. Rader will be used, but still needs bore sighting. John Cromer to investigate. d. Key switch will be moved to data room, John Cromer to check status e. We still need to discus a Coude shutter to allow co-alignment of Red/yellow light. 9. TE controller is at Palomar and Andrew is bringing down additional TE coolers to Palomar this (8/15/06) morning. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- Mitchell Troy JPL Adaptive optics and large telescope group lead Phone: 818-354-4730 FAX:818-393-9471 M/S 306-388 mtroy@jpl.nasa.gov _______________________________________________ LGS mailing list LGS@astro.caltech.edu http://astro.caltech.edu:88/mailman/listinfo/lgs
