Palomar 60-inch telescope SED Machine (SEDM) TWiki

Introduction

The SED Machine (SEDM) is a rapid classification integral field spectrograph optimized for use with the Intermediate Palomar Transient Factory (iPTF) and Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF).

Project Status

SEDM has been on sky nearly continuously since May 28th, 2016. We are currently planning to bring the instrument to CalTech for some engineering maintenance and upgrades sometime between the end of iPTF and the beginning of ZTF.

Partnership

The SEDM was designed and built by Dr. Nick Konidaris. The current PI is Prof. Shri Kulkarni. Contributors to SEDM include Nadia Blagorodnova, Richard Dekany, Jennifer Milburn, Don Neill, and Richard Walters.
