---++Introduction Description of the calibration process. ---++Focus the instrument On an ipython console at NEMEA, write: > import SpecFocus > res = SpecFocus.focus_loop(stage_control, du_control, focus_pos = np.arange(3.0, 3.5, 0.05)) > SpecFocus.analyze(res) Select the value with the maximum value in the figure for the focus. ---++Arcs ---+Ar Exposure of 15s. Should get around 10k counts on the brightest spots. ---+Xe Exposure of 15s. ---+Hg Early arcs did not show great S/N with 15s. Just above the bias limit. At later time, 15s did provide the right number of counts. Exposure of 15s. ---+Cd Wait 3 min to warm up. Exposure of 15s. ---++Dome flats Power up the telescope if down. Select 'dome' in the control window. Click 'Calibration'. Once calibration is selected, the lamps open. Select 'flat stow' and Telescope. ---++Focusing the telescope * Take a rainbow camera image. * Once we see it in the rc, select the arrow from the centroid of the object to the centre of the IFU pointing circle. * Repeat with exposures until the object is entered in the circle. * Press button 'To IFU', to move the object to the IFU. * Examine the IFU image. * Take focus loop. Predicted focus for GRB is 14.85. Finer step of 0.05 may be used. ---++Starting the Telescope Control Menu * Open a Pylab64 console. * Type: 'import Telescope_Control' * Type: 'Telescope_Control.interactive()' to obtain the interactive menu to the telescope. ---++STD star * Select the coordinates of the star in the list. * Identify the STD in the rainbow camera. * Offset the telescope to fit the STD in the circle of the IFU. * Click 'ToIFU'. * Select the parameters of the spectra: time Exposure time suggestions for STD: * 10 - 11 mag --> 120s * 11 - 12 mag --> 240s * 12 - 13 mag --> 360s * 13 - 14 mag --> 500s -- Main.NadiaBlagorodnova - 17 Nov 2015 -- Main.NadiaBlagorodnova - 19 Nov 2015
