Wednesday, April 26 (working lunch will be served at 12 noon):

8:30 am- POINT DESIGN Proposal philosophy, design philosophy
  • Review architecture choices (relay vs. AM2 vs. MEMS)

Mark I: narrow-field AO point design. Shoot at initial point design in light of:

  • Wavefront error budget
  • Sky Coverage estimates
  • Photometry budgets (LGS,NGS,Sci)

Identify trade studies for System Design Phase

Identify key risk areas

Make initial Proposal writing assignments (technical section)

3:00 pm - Break for the Day

Thursday, April 27 (working lunch will be served at 12 noon):

8:30 am - POINT DESIGN (cont.) Mark II: wide-field AO architecture options
  • Identify key risk areas

11:00 am

  • Instrument A (likely a visible imager)
  • Shoot at initial point design
  • Identify trade studies for System Design Phase

1:30 pm

  • Instrument B: (likely an IR MOS)
  • Shoot at initial point design
  • Identify trade studies for System Design Phase

3:00 pm

  • Prioritize Mark I: risk areas and trade studies / review initial assumptions and choices
  • Adopt Mark I: Product structure

Friday, April 28 (working lunch will be served at 12 noon):

8:30 am - PROPOSAL PLANNING

Develop Mark I: Work break down structure

  • For SDR through Commisioning (Level 3)
  • For SDR phase (Level 5)
  • Discuss basis of cost estimate

Review Proposal writing assignments

Adopt plan for June presentation / assignments
